For Press and Bloggers

ARC (Advance readers Copy)

Apply for ARC by sending me a DM on Instagram where you write a little about yourself and why you’d like an ARC of my upcoming book. I look forward to hearing from you.

If you receive one, make sure to snap a picture and use #alexandrawinter so that I can see it.

What is an ARC?

An ARC is a free copy of a new book often given by a publisher to journalists, book-bloggers, and so forth before the final result of the book is sent to print. The purpose of ARCs is to generate early buzz and reviews, encourage purchases, and assist librarians and booksellers in deciding whether or not to purchase a particular book for their collection/stock.

ARCs are not a finished book; the author relies on feedback from the ARC readers to find errors, perfect the text, and look before printing the book for sale. If a good review comes back from an ARC reader, it may be placed on the cover and other places for promotional purposes. Because of these changes, reviewers are asked to only pull direct quotes from the finished version of a book.

ARCs are normally distributed three to six months before the book is officially released to reviewers, bookstores, magazines, and (in some cases) libraries. But I send out mine about a week before publishing the book.
